Fake Heat?
I don't know what it is about microwaves that give me the heebie jeebies. Maybe it's because of the warning signs on every teacher lounge door that tells you before you enter the room "Microwave in Use". I know there have been studies that say they are safe (and ones that say they are not, but who's looking at those?) but they just don't feel right to me. So I avoid them for all applications besides melting chocolate and heating up water. Even then I have guilt, something is wrong.

Yup! I know they are bad...but I can't give up the convience yet.
ReplyDeletei dont quite know if they ARE bad. i am really freaked out by them too.
ReplyDeletei cant put my finger on it. maybe because i heat up water for the baby's bottle in them ( dont worry, they are glass bottles) . i would have anxiety attacks when i was in a hurry and didnt know how else to cook something.but i did tons and tons of research on them. and i just couldnt find any compelling proof that they have any effects. truth be told. your cell phone is much more harmful--and cancer causing than your microwave.
There is a lot of compelling evidence for and against. One doctor (Mercola)that I feel has good views on things of healthy nature has a lengthy article at http://www.mercola.com/article/microwave/hazards2.htm. If you care to read you might think twice. I had a friend who had heard of an experiment that involved feeding 2 plants of the same species water. One from the tap and the other from the tap, microwaved and cooled. The microwaved water one died. She did the experiment, I'll have to ask her how it went.
